Equity and Inclusion Strategy
The European Commission, via the Erasmus+ programme, has a new goal in the new programmatic period of 2021-2027, aiming to secure equal opportunities of inclusion in its program, despite of any racial, socioeconomic, mentally, physically or psychologically disabled backgrounds of the potential participants (students and/or staff).
The program, has, thus, secured additional funding, in order to subsidize additional costs arising from the participants’ special needs, such as adapted accommodation, travel and medical assistance, supportive equipment, adaptation of learning material etc., in order to facilitate such inclusion and participation of members from the following categorical backgrounds:
- physical and mental disabilities;
- physical and mental health issues;
- serious illnesses or chronic diseases, which cause disability;
- low socioeconomic status;
- immigrants or refugees;
- children of single-parents or large families (approved to receive Single Parent Family Allowance and/or Child Allowance for large families);
- persons who are parents themselves and belong to the category of people with low socioeconomic status;
- from rural, degraded, or remote areas;
- coming from families monitored by the Social Services Welfare;
- learning difficulties (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia etc.).
Contact the Erasmus+ coordinator about the application procedure. Applicants are also expected to submit a letter with their request for additional grant support, which is a contribution based on real costs, and any supporting documents, along with their application.
The necessary supporting documents are:
- A note from a doctor explaining the participant’s condition, as well as the way in which this condition will affect the participant’s life abroad.
- A detailed estimation of the costs, relating to the participant’s special needs that are expected to be faced abroad.
